A horoscope is like a map of one's life. To have a map of the terrain as well as access to a skilled interpreter of that map can be a desirable and advantageous situation in undertaking any significant journey. While traveling from point A to point B, there can be any variety of terrain that must be traversed from the utterly difficult, dangerous, or tiresome, to more desirable vistas which can evoke a sense of satisfaction or even sublime peace. Making careful note of the features of the terrain, your journey can be planned much more skillfully, and navigated with much greater agility. The insights acquired through accurate map interpretation lead to a lessening of potential suffering and an enhancement of contentment in your travels.
The ancient Seers of India percieved that every human being that is born is subject to conditioning by eternal laws of cause and effect. The Seers used the sanskrit term karma for this law of cause and effect. Just as the trajectory of any object bound by time and space can be accurately measured with all the neccessary scientific principles and data variables on board, so to can the likely trajectory of a human life be foreseen with the prerequisite insight.
A horoscope is studied by a knowledgeable astrologer to ascess the likely trajectory of desirable and undesirable karmas that will accrue to an individual within that individuals lifetime. While some karmic facets of a persons life may be firmly destined, other facets leave room for a great deal of free will to be expressed. Still other facets of an individual beings life are of a mixed variety of karma, neither strongly fixed nor entirely flexible. Just as we say that a person is born with a genetically predetermined disposition towards towards certain strengths and weaknesses of body and mind, the ancient Seers would have said that genetic predisposition is but a single facet of our total karmic inheritance. Jyotish accurately ascesses the likely probabilities of outcome regarding all of lifes various catergorical realities.
It is taught by the Seers that by responding to lifes events skillfully and usefully, we built merit, which ultimately leads to the most radical kind of freedom, enlightenment.
